Welcome to the
International Brotherhood of Electrical WorkersThe International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) represents approximately 750,000 members who work in a wide variety of fields, including utilities, construction, telecommunications, broadcasting, manufacturing, railroads and government. The IBEW has members in both the United States and Canada and stands out among the American unions in the AFL-CIO because it is among the largest and has members in so many skilled occupations. The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers International Office issued a charter to eleven electricians in Norfolk Virginia. This charter established IBEW Local 80 on May 1, 1899. From the humble beginnings of eleven electricians grew an organization of 889 exceptionally trained wiremen and linemen. The IBEW and Local 80 have continued as pioneers in job safety and works closely with electrical industry leaders to promote safety standards throughout the industry. Having been established in the electrical industry in Norfolk for over 100 years we also have developed professional, effective, and efficient methods of work to complete the project by the safest, quickest, and most cost effective means possible.
